Backpacking in Weminuche Wilderness
This adventure begins at Mountain Light Lodge, where we relax and get a good night's rest before hitting the trail. Our journey starts on a trail leading deep into the heart of the Weminuche Wilderness. It follows a refreshing mountain stream with a variety of cascading rapids and waterfalls. We then turn toward the timberline, making our way high into the San Juan Mountains, to some of the area’s most beautiful natural lakes. This is an ideal setting for you to work as a team with your son, learn to use a map and compass, set up your camp, or test your fishing skills in a nearby lake or stream.
Hot Springs and Mountain Feast
After five days on the trail, we will travel into town and soak for a couple of hours in the renowned Pagosa Springs Hot Springs along the banks of the San Juan River. Afterward, we will return to the Lodge for a wonderful mountain feast, all while recounting the adventures of the past week.
Partner with Faithful Fathering Initiative
Voice of Wilderness partners with Faithful Fathering Initiativeto guide this trip and facilitate structured discussion time each evening around specific manhood topics and scripture. The goal is to raise the bar for the father-son relationship to a new level.
