Do you ever wonder what it would be like to be born in a different time? Let the inner pioneer out of you. This unique experience is a collective effort between Voice of Wilderness and the US forest service to help rebuild trails. We will spend the majority of our time using antique crosscut saws to clear downed trees from the trail at altitudes ranging from 8,500-11,500 feet. Armed with basic tools we will be doing our part to maintain the trails that were blazed for us long ago while enjoying some of the most breathtaking views of the south San Juan wilderness.
Based out of our wilderness cabin, we will be backpacking through amazing high country, fishing in remote mountain lakes and streams surrounded by wildlife and nature at its finest. After a full week of adventure, we will come back and rejuvenate in Pagosa's amazing hot springs and enjoy a feast back at the cabin.
Youth ages 14-17 are welcome with an adult companion (i.e. Father/Mother, Uncle/Aunt, Brother/Sister, etc.).
Prepare to be in GOOD PHYSICAL CONDITION before participating in the Trail Blazers trip. (US Forest Service to provide pack animals)
